One of the true OG cocktails the Vieux Carre, traces its heritage back to the French City of New Orleans, a blend of Cognac, Rye, Herbal Liqueur, Sweet Vermouth, and Bitters.
Vieux Carre
1 oz Cognac
1 oz Rye
1/4 oz Herbal Liqueur (such as Benedictine)
3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
2 dashes of Peychuad's bitters
2 dashes of cocktail bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir briskly for 30-40 seconds. Then strain into a martini glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry.
